Lynx by Panart [Completed Build]

Well finaly got one side completely planked with the second layer. And would be about right that I had butter finger while laying them, and the bow of the keel broke off. Now had to fabricate a new peice. Good thing is this will be painted but made it out of some scrap African walnut. Was able to get a plank started on the other side before it was time to go to work. Then also I didnt even realize how big this ship was going to be. Granted reading the measurements is one thing but it not until the general shape is coming to that you get a good idea of the size.

Been a little bit since I been able to work on the LYNX but was able to finish all the second planking. I'm cutting the gun ports and decided to scratch build the catheads. Alot of the plywood will be replaced with solid wood. Right now I'm bending the top rail. 20220625_220933.jpg20220625_220942.jpg20220625_220947.jpg

Got some good work in today. Finished the other toprail and foot board along with the other cats head and even got some paint laid down. Granted I do have some clean up spots left to do and another coat of white left to put one she is coming along nicely. The last 2 pics are references to the 1:1 replica. And is the paint scheme I am going off of aswell.

Well got the paint more finalized. Got the rubbing Strake painted red and the top rail done in yellow. Later on I'll rub some stained on there to age a little bit. Test fitting the mast and got the bowspirte base installed along with the capstan. But the masts dont fit up with the angle they should be they should be slanted towards the stern more, I'll have to adjust them more.

I agree that the kit does not appear to have enough rake to the masts, although drawings of the original seem to show significantly less rake than the modern Lynx.

Yes the drawings appear to have almost a 15 to 20 degree take
