Mary Rose - Caldercraft Build log [COMPLETED BUILD]

The work continues, the shrouds are a lot of repetition work which can be a bit mind numbing. I’m working on the lower levels of all masts, this way I can break off and do other tasks like porthole covers

Interesting approach that you use a jig for this.
How do you ensure that the ratlines are parallel and aligned to the waterline once fitted ?

In all honesty it’s almost impossible for me to do it in situ, so I do the best I can. I’m wheelchair bound because of a spinal injury while serving. I’m a registered war pensioner with 80% disability so I adapt where I can.

Hello Ikecurran, have gone through your build log just now and am taken aback reading about your injury. This is a beautiful model built and truly amazing skills used here considering your situation. Please continue and finish the model as I want to see this beautiful ship complete.

Have a wonderful afternoon and warm wishes from Mombasa, Kenya.

This is my final post of Mary Rose, I have enjoyed the build and the investigating of the true boat. It’s far from perfect and I could have done better but I’ll post the final pictures and draw the build to an end

Hallo @ikecurran
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Birthday-Cake
and? after the Mary Rose, are you working on a new project?

Hello Ike,
I am about to start on the Mary rose kit in Marck having just completed the Caldercraft Endeavour, great therapy duing lockdown, an I am still wrestling with building the kit as supplied or building with the Anthony Roll version with four decks fore and three decks aft as in the book:- "Tudor Warship Mary Rose" by Douglas McElvogue. This book contains excellent drawings of both versions of the ship and great details of the armaments, hull construction, masts and sails.
Good to see the progress you have made, it will soon be time for me to decide on which version to build, If you have any views on this I would like ot hear them please? Derek Payne, Stafford
