Good day lads and ladies,

I discoverd a Matchbox kit stuck away among some other kits (aircraft, so who would look there?) in a plastic container. I would like to make a start on the old girl, but just would like to get some ideas regarding the four (?) greys )according to the box art that was used on this lady (first insert).

On the box that I have two of the coulours are purole and pinkish. The screenshot that I have inserted is not of the kit box art that I have. But now here we see four greys and not two plus a "purple" and "pink".

Any ideas on some basic detailing (keep in mind I am limited to schratch building, old school way), rigging etc. would be very welcome.

I made a screenshot from the illustration found on the kit I have. And here we see "Deep Purple" and "Pink Floyd."

Result of a google search... can be instructive.

The disruptive schemes are notoriously difficult and subjective.

Airfix produced a 1:600 version of the class.

You say IA, I say AI (LOL)

Your suggestion seems plausible.

Based on what photo's are available, I think the patterns and colours will always be debated, the important thing is to represent the ship to the best of your ability and satisfaction.

Just go for it and enjoy yourself.

The situation could be worse. You could be trying to reproduce THIS experimental camo measure in 1/700!
Check out a beautifully executed waterline model of USS Nebraska as she appeared in 1919 sporting a startling three-tone symmetrical version of WWI "Dazzle" disruptive camouflage. Especially considering her Lilliputian dimensions, the level of detail is breathtaking...as is the rigging and perfectly mimicked, eye-straining livery.
That RN Measure 32 paint scheme doesn't look quite so daunting now, does it?

Colourcoats makes excellent WWII paint for UK ships. Schneider&Short sell matched paint chips for WWII navies. Starling Hobbies in the UK has kits and LOADS of information, etc. (I have two of these kits, unstarted...)

IA, oh dear... I suppose the typo shows that a human did the typing ... Thank you for your feedback Pug.As well as some encouraging words. "Just go for it and enjoy yourself." I do love that.

Oh may ... how shall I put it, it is indeed quite dazzling I would venture to say. This does not merely break up the lines of the ship, this is to totally confuse a submarine commander ... On a more serious note, this scheme is brialliantly done. Wow!
