Took about an year to finally reach a spot somewhere midway in getting the actual 3d Model sorted out , build software is Autodesk Inventor , and level of detailing is 100% till now , which means each building block is designed separately and finally put in an assembly file , the design form is very organic and really stretched my skills in surface modelling . as I said i have come quite some distance and many more knots to go .... would require some encouragement and positive criticism from experts , and like to k now if someone has generated a 3D
figurehead for the Bowspirit. ....

Welome to SoS Subhro!
I TRULY envy your skill in preparing these renderings!
Assuming your drawings are for the Druid purchased in 1776, are they based on the contemporary drawings and scantlings or a modern source? The reason I ask is that the wheel in your drawings is afore the mizzen mast instead of aft of the mast. See the original drawing from RMG below.

Hi Allan

Thanks for the response , I got the hardcopy of the drawings from Lumberyard Mr.Hahn (info@navyboardmodels.com) , got them couriered all the way to India . and then started converting to 3D Modelling .. will once again share whatever I got and do a compare..

Bonjour,
Je ne sais pas si Inventor utilise des courbes de Bézier 3D. Si c'est le cas, vous pourrez réaliser ce genre de figure de proue.
Bernard
Hi Bernard

I got your text translated to English. are Bézier Curves and splines same ?... still then I am sure i will not be able to manage , i need something else maybe where i can generate such an organic model ... maybe maya ... but I am not exactly an expert in it , will though give it a try BTW your models are exquisite and way way beyond my capability currently ..

Understood. :) Looking at his work he does indeed show the wheel afore the mizzen mast. I may be totally wrong but if I had to choose the original drawing from
2 October 1776 and Hahn's modern drawing from 200 years later I would bet the original drawing is correct. Perhaps he had access to some other contemporary information, but the problem that may develop with the wheel afore the mast is having the lines going from the wheel drum to the tiller with the mast in between. Looking at additional contemporary drawings and models of 3 masted sloops, all the steering was aft of the mizzen mast.

As an added thought of something that might help you for proper dimensioning...... in general it is always a good idea to check contemporay drawings and contracts if they exist against modern drawings. In addition to the 1776 drawings, in your case there is a 17 page contract for a 16 gun sloop of war, Nautilus from 1784 at the RMG Collections website that you may find helpful for scantlings. The cover page is below.

1. Brilliant start (70%-?).
2. What plans are you using? The only Druid I have seen are by Harold Hahn, 1/8" - ?.
3. I am a little further along with a L'Hermione', 1/4".
4. Looking forward to seeing more pix someday.
