Metal cast parts

I never liked the metal cast parts provided in kits. The metal parts include the transom, windows and figurines. Since I'm not artistic enough to do detail painting on these parts. Working on AL HMS Endeavour. Are there any suggested colors that I should consider ?

After clean up with files or scalpel blade, they need a good cleaning in vinegar or other such fluid to get oils off.

Then a primer coat to seal the surface, maybe a light grey or white. You can use cheap rattle can primer.
