Hi, can someone have experience with these two sander ? I hesitate between Micro-Mark and Proxxon disc sander. Micro-Mark seem to be a replicate of the Proxxon, but is really cheaper. Is it good enough ?

Thanks

p.s. I do not found the infos here, but I think we discussed the subject before.

Are you looking for powered disc sander?

One of my train part suppliers has a nice manual disc sander that is hand operated, and has accessory items called a duplicator to get multiple parts sanded to the same angle and length.

I can post a web link if interested.

Don't know how costs compare.

Did you speak about the Utlimation disc sander ? I am also thinking about this one.

it took a few years but the motor on my Micro-Mark 5 inch disk sander burned itself out, don't know if that is just a chance one in 10,000 or what happened, i flipped it on and nothing dead!
it was a few years old and maybe they use a better motor now.

Thanks, I must thank about it before purchased because there is no angular positionning in z axis and double prices than Micro-Mark but on pair with proxxon. Difficult choice.

I HAVE THE ONE FROM MENARDS IT LOOKS LIKE IT INCREASED IN PRICE I PAID $40.00 IT IS VERY GOOD MACHINE DOES EVERY THING IT IS SUPOSED TO AND VARIABLE SPEED ALSO. GOD BLESS STAY SAFE ALL DON

Both are ok.

Byrnes v good.

I made my own
+ circular saw.

My apprenticeship we had machines for each specific job.

All round machine has pro and cons.

Use a small 12v motor, Kodak metal case and WAM … mini router and grinder.
Plenty of ideas from past masters.

We all search for the best for our money…part of my question is how much “work” we expect from the tool. I have been very satisfied overall with MicroMark tools. I also have a Craftsman “bench top” disk sander which takes a heavy load when needed. My other go-to sander is rotary drum sander. My experience is get what you can afford choosing among the better brands available and you will be OK…

I have a King bench top, but want a more adapted pne for modelling. On really like the manual one, but if some days I woukd like to build a ship by plan, the manual one is OK or I will need a variable speed?

Technically a manual operated disk sander is variable speed, if you can crank at more than one rate.:)o_O

It may not get to higher RPM a powered sander can.

In fact Jim is right and my first question should have been like the last one before your post. There is a cost factor, but may be the usage is predominent for me. Wich one will do the job for mofelling of any kind. POF or POB or Scratch. If this choice is well answer, then the price is much or less important. I do not want to be in the obligation to purchase an other one because of a bad choice. But, who knows, may be the solution is not straight as I whish.

That is the nice thing about this forum, is that you can post a question on this subject, and state what your needing and looking for, and what the end purpose is, and then the grand folks here can provide replies and input about what you may really want, or what you need and also give feedback on pros and cons of a specific item your looking at, to help prevent the issue you just mentioned.
