I always said that my favorite tool was sandpaper. I guess old age (82) is catching up with me.
I just recently purchased this Milwaukee M12 Fuel orbital 'Detail sander'
It's cordless, has a (4) speed selector with variable speed trigger control which will lock in place if you have lots of sanding and don't care to hold the trigger.
Speed ranges are:
0 - 800 Orbits per minute
0 - 10,000
0 - 12,000
0 - 14,000
Comes with a flat sanding pad and a foam pad for sanding contours
Mesh Hook-and-loop sanding sheets range in grit from 80-400
"Detail" is a relative term and probably good for sanding larger hulled scale ships.
I've given it a 'Test run' on the first planking of the ship I'm currently building and so far, love it![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
With the foam pad it easily conforms to the curved surfaces.
