Hello all, As the title states, I am newly a lot of things lately. I’m beginning my first build: the Occre Albatros. After about 40 hours of YouTube videos and a lot of forum reading, I landed on the Albatros due to its lower cost of entry. Others say that the kit quality is not bad either so I found it to be a happy medium.

I think it prudent to note that I ordered the kit from the Luczorama website. In my research I was attempting to find a reputable dealer that would have the kit delivered in a few days. I came across Luczorama which ships within the U.S. and carried the Albatros kit for cheaper than I could find it anywhere else. The kit also includes the paint set.

I scoured the internet looking for anyone else’s experience with this company and couldn’t really find a single post where someone had endorsed ordering a kit and receiving it. All I could find was mostly speculation about whether the company is legit or not. I figured I’d take my chances because it seemed legit. Just wanted to make a post saying that I did indeed order the kit from Luczorama and received it in great condition. It was delivered in 2 days and was packaged well. I included pictures of the kit and my order as proof.

Anyways, happy to be here and thrilled with the amount of good information on this forum. Thanks for having me!!!

Welcome to SoS Z

IF this is your first go, maybe set the kit aside for a while and start with a high quality kit that will teach good habits and improve skill level yet not cost as much? If you do some searching here at SoS, check out the three-vessel series from Model Shipways designed by David Antscherl. These will keep the frustration level down and yield realistic, very fine looking models. https://www.modelexpo-online.com/pr...-3-kit-combo-series-with-tools-glue-and-paint. I believe there are many members that would second this recommendation.

Good luck with whatever you choose and again, welcome to the team. :) :)

I second the opinion of @AllanKP69 a great source of advice on this site.
I too started with the aforementioned kits and then progressed to the POF ZHL Bluenose. Those kits out me into the position to successfully complete the model. I'm probably one for jumping in over my head and couldn't fault you for starting with the Albatross. I'm sure that you will do well with it. I, for one, will gladly follow your build. My method is to make frequent posts to my build log with a lot of photos so that those following you can see if you've made an error.
The main thing is to have fun and start the process of developing the skills at ship modeling.
Happy modeling
Ted

Welcome to the forums !
Its great to hear you had a good experience with @LucZoRama . He is a member on here and posts from time to time and has provided a few give-away prize drawings. I think the Albatross is a great place to start. Sure, it's not perfect (I have yet to find a kit that is) but it will do a decent job and with all the videos available and maybe with help from the members here.

I hope you do a build log on your first ship.
The build log will give you a sense of accomplishment and also is a great place to ask questions when you have them.
I'll watch for your log !

Greetings from the Finger Lakes of New York. It looks like you got quite a deal on the kit - the color pack was basically free! It's nice to see some younger blood enter the hobby and I wish you well. Please share your build with us.
