Tried ship building once in the 60's that didn't go well. Always admired model ships. Age has forced me to sell off a very nice wood shop (and many other nice hobbies) to be replaced by modeling. Lets see if age and treachery have an advantage over youth and exuberance.
Presently have a Bluenose kit on order as well as instruction CD's, plus tools.
I have a question about build journals many seem to use. What exactly goes into one and what is the major aid provided?
Not sure whether to start one and how to go about it.
Any suggestions are welcomed.

Welcome to SoS. I am a relative newcomer with under a year here but have learned a LOT from other members. If you indicate that you are open to help and suggestions folks will try to help. Start a build log of your Bluenose project with progressive photos and questions as they arise. You have about 20,000 helpers at your side.

Welcome. The benefits of a Build Log are that you can track your progress, get feedback to include suggestions and recommendations. There is a Forum in the Home page on how to get started.

Hello and welcome aboard. As others have said, I would definitely start a build log. There are so many members here that will help and encourage you along the way.

Is this log something recorded and stored on the forum for all to monitor and help with problems?
I'm missing something.

yes, the log is retained in this section of the forums:
Link to wood kit build logs
It is there for people to view what you are doing. It can help others build the same kit or it can come in handy if you have questions about a particular section.

Welcome aboard. And as others have mentioned, the Build Log is a ongoing record of your build and progress. Its a great way to follow along, get and give advice and creates a great compendium of model ships. You don't have to an expert to create the log either. I recommend you start one yourself. And once again, welcome to our merry group. ( not much treachery here though....)

i am a mager beginner, nothing I have built is worth any respect. I am trying to get better. don't use super glue if possible, because if you make a mistake with titebond you can use water and a soldering iron and do it over again

Nothing wrong with super glue. It has its uses. This entire ship was built with nothing but super glue. By the wsy, there are debonders for CA. And PVA cements usually require clamping to dry. 20211013_133733.jpg20241210_140426.jpg
