...well, not really old, just 67.

After watching an Olha Batchvarov video on YouTube I decided to get my hand back into modeling. I made plastic models from the late 60s into the late 80s/early 90s. Real life took over, marriage, kids, changing career...

...now, I have decided to attempt wooden ship models. I have purchased a number of inexpensive models, that are sitting on the shelf until I get more experience. My first attempt at a build is the Model Expo Lowell Grand Banks Dory, part of the Become a Shipwright of Old set.

I have watched countless 'How To...' videos of all levels of model ship building, and lurked a number of build logs. I have progressed to the garboard planks on the dory. I have learned a few lessons, which I will share in my own build log.

Glad to be here.

Welcome to SoS Ed. Your choice of the Dory is spot on.

Soooo, what kind of chef are you? As a foodie, I love hearing about what chefs, home or professional, favor in their cooking.

Allan
Allan,

I cook whatever the menu dictates.

That being said, I have done a lot of different things in a kitchen. I have been a hotel garde manger; café manager; line cook in an Italian restaurant; married into an Italian restaurant family (did not cook for them) and learned their family recipes; worked in two different Bourbon restaurants; been a restaurant butcher; restaurant charcuterie; breakfast hot line cook; buffet cook; pastry chef/baker; major league ballpark suites lead cook; minor league ballpark suites chef; major league baseball ownership chef; minor league baseball kitchen supervisor; major league baseball kitchen manager; major league baseball warehouse premium services manager; museum cafe culinary supervisor; and floating chef to a concert venue, hockey arena, and horse racing park.

My cooking preferences are American Southern and Italian. My favorite cuisines are Asian. When I have time to delve, which is rare, I like to dabble in archaic American recipes from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Cheers

Please do NOT give out your address, as you will have some unexpected company, (me!) Archaic American recipes....... sounds interesting and fun. Again, welcome to the fray.

This is the right place to gather in experience from across the globe, and find knowledge of the most arcane details of ships and building them

Enjoy!
