I've been following the forum for a while and just got permission to come aboard. I'm from New England (Massachusetts) and have been a wooden boat owner for many years. My last real one was a Beetle Cat that was built on the original mold located about forty minuets from where I live. At 77 years old I decided to go from the real ones to models to help endure the New England Winters. Last year I finished the Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack an old Midwest Models Kit. It went well as it is a hard chine hull. Only two planks on starboard and port sides. I'm going to attempt the African Queen as a scratch built because I feel Billings is too expensive for what you get. Fortunately I have many tools. Who wouldn't after 77 years!IMG_1833.JPGEdited.jpg

First, welcome aboard from cold and wet Holland (sorry, the prime minister just called and said "the Netherlands, old boy!". Then: I would like to sail that really nice boat! That must be fun!

Thank you! I was able to spend some time in Rotterdam sailing on my brother's boat many years ago. A fine country!

Thank you and congratulations on almost ten years on the forum!

Welcome aboard from Duluth, MN. Two lovely boats; model and real thing. I learned to sail at summer camp in a wooden catboat. I believe that it was called a Wood Pussy.

Thank you all for a warm welcome to the forum. I hope to post as my new project gets underway.

Welcome aboard! I used to sail in a 16' Snipe - had a main and a jib as well as retractable centerboard and rudder! And that was many years ago! Hope to see pics of your builds!

Hello and welcome to the forum from Oklahoma!

I have a small boat like your Beetle cat, I have Lido 14, I got for lake sailing here.

She need some work as transom is out due to rotted wood. One of my many projects.
