Hello everyone. I have been ship modeling for about a year. So far I have been just tinkering and buying kits to see what I like and what is possible. I have beginning stage parkinson's disease so its really a challenge sometimes. I live in SE South Dakota. I cannot find any ship models in my area so far. Anyone a member of this group from the US Midwest area?

Welcome to the forums.

I live in the Denver area and even the hobby shops here don't have many wood ship models. All of my kits have been ordered through the internet. Between Model Expo and Ages of Sail, they have just about all of the POB (Plank on Bulkhead) you could be after. I think the brick and mortar shops don't carry them because they are expensive so they sell them infrequently.

If you are after POF (Plank on Frame) kits, just browse through the forums here and you can find lots of information on where to purchase them like www.drydockmodelsandparts.com

Welcome aboard. I live in Idaho...a little too far from you to be able to visit. There are lot of ways to get models and materials, even in S Dakota.

it is also a matter of shelf space in all the arts and crafts and hobby wooden ship model building is the smallest group so it is not worth the space and investment in inventory to stock them.

you can find anything you want from custom made kits to semi-kits to any kind of ship model kit on line. If you do find something of interest just post it here and you will get a review of the kit
