Good Morning fellow members! .My name is Keith Harrison and I live in British Columbia,Canada (B.C. for short) My wife died two years ago and after getting over it, wondered "what can I do to keep myself busy". I had almost given up the idea of starting to do one of Harold Hahn's POF models "The Bounty", so I bought the plans from Ohio USA.---and started to buy a new set of tools, never thinking I would start again........! So, here I am , always willing to learn from other modelers . Perhaps you could start by telling me if you had any thoughts or advice which would help me down the road.'

Best wishes. Keith.

You are most welcome here, Keith. Best advice? - take it steady and think ahead.

Harold Hahn published his construction of his Bounty model in the Nautical Research Journal. Go to their website, look on their online index and call their office to order an inexpensive copy. You download them so avoid border crossing hassles.

Welcome aboard from Connecticut. I always advise new members to try some simple models first. I strongly recommend the 3 boat shipwright series from Model Expo a series of three increasing complex ships before you start on something ambitious. They sell the boats separate or as a package. They even sell sets with a decent limited set of tools, if you need them. They have a deal that if you finish their first kit, a Dory and take a picture of you with it that they will give you full store credit of its cost applied to your next boat. There are many build logs of these boats along with you tube videos of their construction.
(I have no connection with model expo)

Best of luck to you on your new adventure. Use your new tools to 'first' build the building fixture itself. This will allow you to become well acquainted with those new tools prior to starting your actual build. You'll also want to think ahead and probably design/make a few special clamps, jigs, additional tools, etc. Don't worry. If you don't think about a particular tool, etc. up front... the model itself will alert you as to when it's time to scratch your head and make something that you don't have but suddenly need! Don't get into a hurry, don't try to cut corners, just take your time, think things through and enjoy this new adventure and the ultimate 'Bounty' it will bring! :) (see what I did there, the 'Bounty' thing? Haha... "okay... I'll stop already!")...

A warm welcome aboard Keith.
One piece of advice, start a build log on this friendly forum. It will get you help when/if needed and friends all over the globe who share the same hobby
