Hi all.. Ive been watching this sight for a long time but just now wanted to post..

Im doing a 1:72 scale black pearl from scratch. i got most the ship built but for the anchors an the masts. Il start those and any othe misc items in a couple weeks.
Moved to a new place but while they were building it, I didn't have access to my tools for woodwooking and such so I thought Id give ship building a try.. Funnest thing I ever done . Learned alot here and from videos. This is a GREAT hobby

Lovely job so far mate. May I ask which shade of brown you are using for the sides?

I used water down Brown acrylic from walmart. I mixed with a little black and slightly colored black water to try to give it a old worn look

Great job !

What an intriguing choice of model, and so sensible as a learning tool. Why, you could do all kinds of things experimenting with how best to cut out parts, or lay planking, and the results would always look perfect!

Welcome!
Looking forward to hearing more as you progress.

Jim

A warm welcome aboard @thokus.
Interesting choice for a first model, now you have complete freedom to shape the ship and learn various techniques on the way. You're right, this is a fantastic hobby. I wish you lots of fun with it.
