This is a model of the ABBAS, an 1880s era side-wheeler that features in the epic film Khartoum. The boat was used to ferry European and Egyptian citizens from Khartoum, which was encircled by Mahdist forces. My version is shorter than the original shown in the film, but is very close to the original in terms of style and overall structure. There are no plans or photos of the original historical boat, so all I had to work with were blurry screenshots from the film version. I was committed to using leftover wood and materials from previous projects and for the most part I was successful, but did have to buy some sheeting, some LEDs and a few other items. I also ordered a 3D model of a Nordenfelt gun (an early type of machine gun) and will also hopefully obtain some soldiers, as the boat made its escape from Khartoum loaded with guns and cannons to protect it against attack.
