Not exactly build log [COMPLETED BUILD]

But would be worth to expand to a real building log
..... only necessary to post some photos of the progress in more or less regular basis .....

By the popular demand. There is a little more of progress of my build.
As simple gluing PE parts with CA glue is not enough (in my opinion at least) I'm embracing the dark art of soldering . Below the pulley: fresh from foundry and than at its final place.

Отличная работа. Но гвоздей как внизу подковы не хватает.

Don't worry Alexander74, there is enough CA glue to keep those horseshoes in place :);).
Back to boat. Browsing through AVOS builds it seems compulsory to post pictures of the bilge pump.
Here it is

And some progress on the vessel itself. Next some cannons and windlass to do.

Не волнуйтесь, Александр74, клея CA достаточно, чтобы удерживать эти подковы на месте :);).
Я не беспокоюсь. Но в таком виде этот элемент выглядит неполным. Это не было приклеено к настоящему кораблю, не так ли?

Very nice model, she is a credit to your building skills Dragdonius,

Best regards John,

Вопрос очень спорный, Саша. Мы же строим модели кораблей а не настоящие корабли. И потом, где и когда ты видел обшивку корабля груши? Но ты прав, для эстетики я бы добавил болтов. Но каждый сам решает как ему строить модель...

Thank you for all the nice words. Unfortunately for me, my skills are only 10%. The rest of the final product is the design and quality off the set.
But, back to build. I made the windlass and the chimney. To mount it, one has to mount bowsprit and belfry as well. And some pictures:

gone through stages like that:PXL_20210606_121956154.MP.jpg
And the finished product, where it should be:

This is true, though. But...even the best in a world-designed kit will need a skillset to assemble so it presented to a beauty. You have such skills for sure. :)

The combination of a good kit with a good modeler with an eye for the detail
Looking very good

Hello
Long time, no see. Have been struggling with the repetitive task of making only 8 cannons. ( I think I have PTSD after Victory ROTF). I partially made one to figure out the best building sequence. And here it is

And first cannon on the deck :

And all of them :
PXL_20210709_150448583.jpg
they went together without any problems. The small issue was minimal visible seems lines on the barrels so need to be polished. which of curse destroys the beautiful blackening done by Korabel.
And the other one: I have to replace the thread because the one in the kit is so shiny you can use it as jewellery. I replaced it with Amati one. I'm not in making my own lines yet. Btw are those who make their own are making all of them? Even the smallest diameters (those with my cannons are 0.5mm). Or just the bigger for standing/running rigging?

Stay safe, keep modelling

After a long time of absence, there is not much to show. Did some bowsprit rigging and anchors. One is in a predeployment/prestorage position.

Question: How to prevent/fight with selftangling of threads when going through blocks and being adjusted? In my case, they always twisting around themselves.

Seems that the threads were long time coiled.
Often it is working, when you uncoil and hang the thread vertical with a smal weight at the lower end - after some time they should not twist any more....give it a try....

Nice work on what appears to be a nice model - looking forward for more!

Hi Uwe,
I've used the method you described to straighten thread for many years - we have a three storey house so I used to be able to hang a long length of thread down the stairwell.
That was fine up to about four years ago, when we rescued a stray cat, who now lives with us and thought the thread was the best thing ever to play with!IMG_0469.JPG
'What can i destroy next?'

Interesting set of whiskers - port side white, starboard side black!

Ted
