I have a problem with the installation of the bulwarks as shown in the instructions. (Photo 14 and fifteen Part #23)
Both broke at the first gun port. I asked OCCRE for new parts and I'd like to know how to form them. The deck sides were planked as shown in photo 14.

first, try this with the old broken ones, rather than the new ones you receive. :)
If you have a pencil style soldering iron, that is perfect to use.
plug in your iron and mount it in a vice so you can get to the element end. You want to use where the heating element is, not the tip of the iron
Dip the part where you want to shape it in water (don't let it soak)
then apply the part where you want to curve it to the heating element part of the iron and move it back and forth as you bend it over the iron.
The water serves tow purposes. it prevents the part from getting charred and the steam created helps the wood fibers shape.
You will probably have to dip it into the water quite a few times and re-apply the heat.

Use the old parts for practice.

To get it perfect, you want the part to have the shape you need before you put it on the ship framework. :)

Does that process work if you've already lined the bulwark with planks? I will soon be at this point with my Albatros build and I am debating to plank them before or after installing bulwark. Does the planking strengthen the bulwark making them more reluctant to bend?

No. You have to have the foundation shape correct. Once you plank it on one side or the other, the additional wood and glue will resist the shape change more. I suppose you could get it to adjust a little but it would not be sufficient most likely.
