Hi all. Well I've made a start on my Occre Beagle. I've called this thread Beagle 3 because there are two others who have also started this kit recently.

The first thing I realised was that although I have countless tools collected over a lifetime, only a few of them would be useful for building this ship. So out came the debit card and shopping started (and as any tradesman knows, buying tools is actually an enjoyable experience :)). I think I have most of what I need now, but no doubt you helpful people will advise if I need anything else.

I realise there are a couple of important items not yet in the tool kit. A pin pusher and a plank bending tool. But I was going to ask advice on those as to the best type to get.

Anyway, below is my modelling tool kit so far.

Thanks for posting. When the second video came on I could not stop smiling!!! Using tick strips to measure the breadth of the planks is great to see. Minute mark 5.09 to 6.36 is so important to properly plank a hull if the planks are not spiled yet no kit ever shows this as far as I know. Except for a couple kit makers that offer spiled planks, this will be most helpful for folks working with strip material. THANKS AGAIN FOR POSITING.

Oddjob, I don't see any sanding blocks or sandpaper. Also, you need a set of micro drill bits and a pinvise. Instead of a plank bender, I use a soldering iron. It works extremely well except that it leaves scorch marks on the wood which is normally on inside of model and doesn't matter. I do use a pin pusher but only push them part way in so that they are easy to remove. Once you get to rigging, a helping hands tool becomes invaluable.

Oh the joys of buying tools!

Good luck and enjoy your Beagle kit.
