Hi all,new to this site done a couple of boats from plans as a learning curve and recently finished the fairly Huntsman that turned out OK.
Imm doing the Orca boat from jaws now and been looking at the pics on line from the guy from France absolutely superb model, mine is a 1/13 scale plan from Saric models, what i would like to know if anyone can help is what sort of paint is used, gloss etc I've experiment with the rust like he explained with some good outcomes, find gloss is to bright looking at satin then matt varnish, any comments please.

All hand brushed as you don’t want it looking too pristine.
Play the film as pause at every good clear part and take pics with your phone. Great some great ideas of colour matching there.
Lots of scuffed up bits as well.

Cap'n Les:
Mostly matt. No gloss! Specifications for model ships to be displayed in museums dictate no gloss paint. And glossy model boats look like toys. For information on weathering effects, check out what folks are doing on model trains, model aircraft, and model armor; some of the results are remarkable. Fair winds!

Welcome to the forums ! Great job !

Now for the shark!
Here's the book you need: Carving Sharks by Anthony Hillman. I've found other of his books useful for various wood carving projects. Underlining below is mine. Fair winds!

"Excellent how-to-guide provides step-by-step instructions, diagrams and sturdy top-view and profile templates for creating 12 different species of such denizens of the deep as the blacktip, great white, megamouth, tiger, goblin, whale, great hammerhead, oceanic whitetip, sandbar or brown, shortfin mako, thresher and blue shark."

Love it ! One of my favorite movies. I was 9 or 10 when it came out. Scared the **** out of me. To me, the first scene is one of the scariest scenes in any movie. And... you don't even see the shark.
Amazing work.
