A few years ago I scratch built this diorama of the Alvarado Hotel in Albuquerque NM. The Alvarado hotel was one of many hotels owned by the Santa Fe railroad and managed by Fred Harvey. These hotels, for the most part, were built along the route from Chicago to Los Angeles and were considered the finest chain of hotels in the Southwest United States. The Alvarado, constructed in 1902, was touted as “ the finest railroad hotel on earth“, Sadly, it was demolished in 1970. The diorama is 11 feet long and took three years to complete.

A fabulous build the figures really give it life, great photos also.

Excellent diorama! I have thought about doing a shipyard diorama for a long time...I even have most of the pieces and parts collected but just haven’t started the build (all scratch). You are an inspiration to return to this project,

Getting started is the difficult part. Once you start it is more difficult to stop. Good Luck!!!
