Hi, I'm going to start building my first ship the OCCRE HMS Beagle very soon.

I have a question about the paint pack I purchased, I have blues and ocres and golds but I don't see anywhere on the instructions where to use them, am I misreading the plans ??

Hello and welcome aboard. I don’t know about the plans, but the Occre videos on YouTube show what to paint.

There usually is a color reference card included in the Ochre Kits. It is used in conjunction with the plans. Plans call out paint number and you reference to this card. Not the easiest.

Have you looked at paintings of her? Geoff Hunt is a modern day artist but does a lot of research into his subjects. Also, if the replica is accurate, it may be a good source of her colors. I found this on the internet as well. Blue paint was used on Royal Navy (RN) ships in the 20th century but not in the 19th century. If this is of any importance to you, you can contact the Royal Museum Greenwich curators staff to find out more.
