My first ever wooden model ship kit was the Phantom

This kit was completed over 20 years ago.

Completed thru all construction and rigging thru most running rigging ready to attach sails.

But without proper support and storage the little ship suffered some major damage to masts and rigging.

The bow sprint and foremast both were broken and damaged.

So after staring at it for years I was ready to toss in the seas and let it sink.

The Admiral kept saying she believes I can fix it

So here are photos of what I have and damage done and first steps in repair of this fine ship

I am in no hurry and I still have the box and plans from original construction days

Masts removed it was nice to find I hadn’t glued them to the hull. All rigging removed to start over

Next step is give the hull a good dusting off, cleaning and inspection

This all took about an hour to remove and clean up. All blocks and broken mast parts were collected and stored for future use.

Well between other projects I have started repairs on “The Phantom”

I cleaned dust and dirt from ship and deck and glued back one Ballard that had come loose.

Next I pulled out old broken bow sprint and got some measurements of wood. After some digging in the box with left overs I was able to find a length of proper size wood to shape replacement. So far I have squared the end to fit it in fixture that holds it in.

Lastly I looked at what I might do to clean old CA marks off side of hull.
