Good evening everyone! Hi I'm JD. I just started building models last week. Needed a new hobby. Got myself a RMS Endurance by OcCre. Super excited to see how it comes out! Feel free to say hi anytime.

Welcome aboard, you might want to create a build log and document your journey. Not only will you have a nice record of your build, you can also ask questions and get opinions from members who will follow your progress. Or not...anyway, tons of info here, welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard. The key to building ships is patience. This is a great hobby and this is a great forum with fellow shipbuilders willing to share their knowledge. Did I mention the thing about developing patience?

Welcome aboard from Connecticut! If you are a first time builder, may I suggest you start out with a simpler project, to get your feet wet. There can be a steep learning curve involved and it can be frustrating. I started out with a simple dory and then a sailing pram. They were both great starter kits and taught me a lot!


Model Shipways Shipwright 3 Kit Combo Series

This is a great starter set at a good price and it included tools you will need (you can also buy them without the tools) (you will want many others) Also look at the beginners corner forum, and the wonderful building logs our members have been so kind to show us.

Welcome to the forums ! :)

Unless you have experience with working on ships from plans and working with small wood parts, you might be better served to start with a kit. If you can give us an idea of some ship features you want, we could possibly steer you in the direction of a suitable kit for you to start with.
Also some idea of what level of experience you have with working on models and with wood.
