Hope you enjoy these snaps taken on a recent visit. The ship is dismasted and undergoing a 15yr / £25m restoration; since I am close to rigging my model I was keen to see the Victory's rigging to make some sense of the plans, so it took the wind out of my sails a bit (bad pun). Following a complete laser scan it seems the hull is bulging due to inadequate support in the dry dock - although probably the best they could do 100 years ago. Still worth a visit though. There will be quite a few posts to come, hope that is OK, but I really don't want to get into something like Facebook. Thank you so much for posting all these pictures of the Victory. Very good references.

My pleasure, Donnie, especially for the guys not in the UK who may not get the opportunity to visit these sights - hope you have the time to check out the other photos. Regards.

These photos are stunning. Thanks so much for posting them. I'll never get the chance to see this magnificent ship in person living in Canada. I truly envy you. The photos will greatly assist me with my model.

You're welcome, John. In 15 years time when they've put her back together I'll post some more! Regards.

Oh sure. Put the pressure on me. Now I have to make it to 80 to see the next batch of photos. Something to look forward to. Probably take me that long to finish the model anyways.

Wish I could take photos as good as this. Find your photos of The Quarterdeck very handy as I on that right now.

Excellent reference photos for Victory model builders, thank you.
By the way, there's a free documentary film on you-tube about how they researched finding the original colours.

Great photos. How many members are going to repaint their models in the original colours? (Go easy on the white spirit though. As the good book advises: Repaint and thin no more.)

Hi SJT,
Being at the young age of 64 I only remember HMS Victory's colours as Black and yellow

Altho science has now managed to find out the true colours, I think most people will always remember her as black and yellow..
