Picket boat aft bulkhead

My current build is the Model Ship Ways Picket boat. I'm about to install the bulkheads, but ran into a problem. The aft bulkhead, #18, is supposed to be flush with the other bulkheads, but when seated on the keel it is about 1/4" above the other bulkhead and I don't see any way to make it fit. Any suggestions? Sorry the pictures are not right side up.

Thank you

You could take some off the top edge to make it flush. That would make it quite thin at the recess, so glue some square strip vertically between the frame and keel to brace it. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your reply. I cut the bulkhead down to make it flush and the slot that slides into the keel was only about 1mm thick; I knew that would not work, so I glued the two pieces to the sides of the keel and reinforced them with four pieces of 1/8 x 1/8 wood. Problem solved.

Thanks again

I am glad it worked. I find a large part of this hobby is problem solving, but I am having real fun and games with my Santa Maria build - instructions are rubbish, drawings are not consistent or 1:1 scale (so I can't take dimensions from them) and parts magically appear on some drawings with no reference to what they are. Anyway, chin up, improvise, adapt, overcome and carry on!
