After 1 month and a half spent building my YQ Bluenose, I take a week of ... leisure building the 19" Canoe as per Gilles project!

These are the progress after a couple of hours of work:

Frame cutout for the supporting structure of the Canoe ...

... gluing on plywood ...

... then I start cutting in my "lab in the" Grotto " ...

... and realization of the basic support!

Not too bad!

This afternoon I will be busy following the exploits of my favorite football team! Fingers crossed!

See you soon!

Update #2

The assembly of the base station continues starting with the assembly of the planks. Already ordered but not arrive ed yet ... My supplier proudly declared 24/48hrs from the order ... now we are at 72hrs ...

In order to avoid the twisting of the whole keel, I borrowed Jimshy's idea for his Canoe that is the assembly of a batten (10x3mm) in order to block the frames. Let's hope it works (sorry Jimsky, but say how it is ...)

Anyway, we are confident ...

And now some pics:

Update #3

First two strips installed!

Now it will be the turn of one of linden wood strip, one on each side, to accentuate the line of the canoe moving the bulkheads view. I used a 1,6mm (or 2/32") of walnut wood strips because I like to work with this measure due to its flexibility. If Will be the case, I will place another layer of strips on top of the first one if I am not satisfied with the result ...

I would also like to place some details of strips, also made of linden wood, which I saw on a video of another friend's log here on the build log ... Let's see how it will come!

The base looks great, and most important part of a good canoe build.

Update #5

The assembly of the strips continues alternating with the bow and stern ornaments.

I also made a support when the canoe is in position for mounting the internal ribs. It is supported on frames #4.

In the meantime, I soaked the strips for the bow and stern ends.

I made a shape to make the correct bending of the bow and stern ends

Here I am from my second lab (at my home on the Italy-Switzerland border) where I can only do the little things that I can bring back to my Swiss home where I have my main lab.

So here are the small jobs done:

the paddles and the leg support for the rowing man

the two seats made with interwoven thread (I finished the 0,8mm thread for the second one but I have It in the other lab ...)

Very good work either for the canoe as well as the equipment like the oars, seat etc. - It will look great with "painting" using different timber

The paddle wood looks great along with the weaving of the seats.
