WIP PROTOTYPE OF HMS HARPY 1796 18 GUN BRIG in 1/64 scale by Chris Watton of Vanguard models.
The very early stages of design for our 17th kit, HMS Harpy of 1796, an 18 gun brig that seen a lot of action during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
HMS Harpy prototype progress - Lower decks now complete. Most of this will be hidden once the planked upper deck is added, but the upper deck will come with openings so some of the lower detail can be seen. Deck beams are to scale and spaced as per the real vessel.
Overall hull length is around 526mm with the bowsprit and main boom, I would think well over 800mm with a main deck length of 95 feet, full size. This is what is considered a medium sized kit. Amati HMS Fly and Pegasus would be near enough the same length in the same scale.
