Proxxon FET table saw modification

I made a modification to the side guide of Proxxon's FET, which is notoriously not very stable and precise. I used materials I had, so it was really no cost. Basically I took my cue from Jim Byrnes' (Model Machine) best-performing table saw and consisted of fixing two rods on which to slide the guide fixed on two aluminium blocks. I made the calibrated steel rods from an old printer and they have a precise diameter of 9mm. The actual rail is a T-track left over from previous use and the aluminium blocks, drilled and reamed to 9mm, slide perfectly. They have an M4 locking screw to secure the rail firmly in place. After assembling the whole thing, the first test cut pleasantly surprised me: as you can see from the measurements, the piece of plywood is accurate along its entire length, a sign that the guide is perfectly parallel to the blade and firmly in place when cutting.

Looks great! Good thinking there. I might want to replace your M4 locking screws with a couple of knurled thumb screws. I'm too lazy to grab a tool if I don't have to.

There is only one but serious problem. In order to replace the blade it is now required to dismount part of the slide guide system as otherwise it is not possible to swing up the top. Some people who made similar modification just nocked of the right wall of the plastic housing so they do not need to swing up the top when they replace the blade.
