I am looking at buying a rope walk machine and some venders offer different models with different capabilities.

So the question is do I really have a need to be able to make 4 strand with core cables or will 3 strand cables/ropes surface for most models?

I have seen all the posts on different types of left and right hand ropes ands cables. I saw one posting saying only anchor ropes needed 44 strand cables/ropes.

Well, Kurt, I'll say this. I bought the really nice ZHL one from China and really like it, but I don't "need" it. Keep in mind your needs vs. your wants vs. your budget. If you "need" a rope walk at all, then the only one you "need" is the Syren Rope Rocket Model Shapeways. It'll do everything you need a ropewalk to do for scale models at the lowest possible price point. Anything above that is want vs. budget. I have more sense than money, so I got the ZHL one.
