Hello from a windy north of England. In response to an SOS survey earlier in the year I said I'd try and be a bit more proactive (confident!!!) and post some photos of my work and start a build log.
Attached is the RCMP St Roch as I left her last spring, hull and deck house complete and starting to fit out.
As a Professional Engineer of many years experience I have a habit of not paying too much attention to instructions ROTF. Those of you who study the photo closely/critically will notice I have "bowed" the wheelhouse deckhead rather than the front panel. Ah well, I'll try and learn from my mistakes.

As a Canuck (my avatar might be a subtle hint), thank you for posting your work on this vessel. I remember taking some photos of it decades ago (long enough ago that they'll be somewhere in my collection of slide trays). Lookin' good!

Thanks, I visited the St Roch when I was in Vancouver over 30 years ago. I emailed the Maritime Museum and they were kind enough to send me some photos of bits of detail. Hope I manage to do it justice!!!!

Starting to fit out the foc'stle - I have a problem with using to much glue and it usually ends up dribbling somewhere. Odd bits being assembled in the background/

Foc'stle more or less complete.

Trying to plank the lifeboat - you can see from the one in the background that it isn't going particularly well!!!!!

Christmas and the New year has been productive. Poop deck fitted out with the steering chains, mast and other fittings. The chain is probably too large to be properly to scale. I'm assuming it was a chain drive rather than steel cable as that was what was supplied., some touching up of paintwork to be done.I'll stain the rungs on the mast rigging as they are far too light. I need advice on how to improve my whipping on the rigging, it's far to bulky and untidy. I still have problems with excess glue!!!

Not sure how to rotate the images posted! They were upright when they left me!! Any advice?

it's good that you don't pay much attention to instructions because the instructions are awful. i built the st roch and i finished it and it looks ok, but i would have to build it again to really know what I was doing. does anyone out there build the same model over again out of sheer hardheadedness? lol

I built the Mary Rose some time ago, there were no instructions just some drawings which looked as if they dated from the origional build in the 1500's ROTF .
This one isn't looking too bad. Yes, in theory, I'd like to do it all again using the knowledge that I gained first time around, particularly building more of the sub-assemblies before fitting to the hull, however I'd prefer spend my money on something new!
