Red Arrows Hawk T1 Airfix 1:72 Scale + Eduard Photoetch

I have just finished this Hawk T1 as part of a group build on a British modelling forum that I am a member of, to celebrate the 100 years anniversary of the Royal Air Force. I chose this aircraft because it is probably one of the RAF's most well known version of the Hawk, flown by the RAF's Aerobatic Display Team, the famous Red Arrows. I have seen them on several occasions and they are always a big attraction at any airshow in Britain and around the world. I used an Eduard photoetch set to enhance the Cockpit and Undercarriage, the aircraft was spray painted using a signal red aerosol and detailed painting was brush painted using Tamiya acrylics.

Thank you. I started building aircraft about 45 years ago and have always been fascinated by aircraft, even to this day I am like a big kid when ever I fly anywhere or am near an airport/airfield. I was due to join the RAF when I left school but broke my leg badly in an accident a few weeks before Basic Training started, which prevented me from joining up.

I'm the same way Brother I sit and watch the planes at the airport. I started off building plastic models and then got into Stick and tissue RC planes then eventually into tiny RC planes 2 1/72 scale that I build myself from scratch. My love for aircraft sent me to Flight school I obtained a private pilots lic. and eventually gave up that lic. when I had my second heart attack. I miss flying so much, but with my heart issues I'm a liability to anyone on the ground. My love is for WWII planes mostly, but anything with wings will get my attention. below are some of the 1/72 scale RC planes I build I have well over 100 Aircraft from 4" up to 6ft wingspan Nitro and electrics. These are made of a foam called Durabatics its the lightest foam on the planet. the All up weight of one of these planes is less then a sheet of notebook paper. I use my laser jet printer to print directly on the foam all the plane designs are all my own graphics from real photos of real planes. I fly these in my living room on 2 channels RC.

Some great looking aircraft. Where I grew up there was no where to fly radio controlled aircraft, our local park had trees around it and we were too busy playing football, tennis and cricket there. My younger Brother went on a day trip to France once and got some small Bangers (fireworks), he tied one to an old model aircraft, lit the touch paper and throw it out of his upstairs bedroom window so that it exploded over the back garden. The dog went mad and our Mother went mad, she hated noise and the dog barking. That was the nearest I got to flying aircraft.
