As one ascends the shrouds, the distance between them obviously shrinks. Did the sailor transfer to the fettock shrouds to ascend further? In modeling ratlines, is it common practice to skip over a shroud or two as they begin to actually touch one another?

Hi Paul, as far as I understand, the sailor would use the futtock shrouds to ascend further. The weak kneed would use the ‘lubbers hole’ an access by the mast. Not sure about the ratlines ending, I would just go by appropriate pictures of the ship or similar ships, and whatever ‘looks good’.
