I am in the process of rigging a scratch model of a Newfoundland banking schooler in the class of a “western boat”, but I am confused as to the attachment of the shrouds at the top of the mast. Two shrouds bend around the mast at the cross trees or spreaders and I am not sure about the third. I think that the third goes to the mast head and it should lead. Through the end of the aft spreader but this does not lead through in a straight line. Chapelle is not clear on this. Can I get some feedback on this.

Hi Robert. Nice to see the scratch build of your schooner. About your shrouds question: I suppose its about the shrouds around the top if the lower masts?
If there is a uneven amount of shrouds, the single uneven one is often served as a ‘swifter’:

The text is in Dutch, it’s the top one noticed as ‘B’.
It’s this what you mean?
