Rotating stand for a model

Got to the rigging stage for the Occre Victory and realised I was always having to turn the model round 180 degrees to fit the rigging on each sides.

In my other life (apart from from model boats that is) I help to organise displays at motorbike shows for the MV Agusta Owners Club. A few years ago I created a small rotating stand for a 'toy' MV - this rotated using a 12 volt motor turning the top. This rotating stand used a 'Lazy Susan' to make it rotate. I had a spare Lazy Susan left over from this so thought this would be ideal. FYI - A Lazy Susan is two aluminum discs separated by ball bearings - this enables it to rotate very easily

Screwed the Lazy Susan to a base made of 18mm ply - used washers between the it and the ply to enable it to rotate

Screwed this assembly to the base I use for the model.

Job Done.. Took about 30 mins

It works perfectly - it has made it so easy to turn the model Victory round so it has made the job of rigging much easier (screwed the whole base to my work table to keep it secure)

You might like to use a small Lazy Susan - the one I used was a bit big.

Photos enclosed of the rotating stand - have also included photo of the rotating stand I made in 2022 for a bike show at Stafford - the bike in the background is mine (will be there again in April so if you want to see it in action come along.......)

There are many turntables and bearing assemblies available. And electric too. I use one for 3D scanning...Screenshot_20250203-081345_Chrome.jpg

The best use for a "Lazy Susan" that I have ever seen. Normally used on the dining table at a Chinese restaurant!
Will certainly consider one if and when I get to the next planned kit HMS Agamemnon!
In the meantime, I shall endeavour to attend the next motor bike show at me home town of Stafford.
