Hello Ship Mates, I am looking for help on where I can buy or plans to build 14 Rowing Port Hinges for my Oliver Cromwell at a scale of 1:48. Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated, ENJOY.
Regards Lawrence

Hello Lawrence. I believe you have a milling machine, and if this is the case you may want to try the way I would do, I made a hand scetch (sorry, I am not a draftsman). In my opinion, it shouldn't be too difficult. The difficult part to find a suitable brass piece and end mills.

hope you understand what I mean. If you have any questions, do let me know. Good luck!

I was looking at one of my favorite model building log of his building of his Creole

I produced the hinges with cut and file out of a copper plate

Thank you UWE, you are very helpful. I have not been on the German form for some time, I used to follow Daniel when I was building my HMS Victory, he has a ton of great ideas, ENJOY.

Yes - this is a typical element for photo etching - if there is nothing already available from the market,
it would be a good subject for a a small number production of a modeler producing photo etched parts on demand.
Maybe in scale 1:36 and 1:48 one plate with a bigger number of normal hinges for gunports, plus hinges for oar-ports, small hinges for the ventilation ports and in addition one or two pair of horse-shoes for the keel - great would be also the running arabic numbers for the water-level markings at the stem

Hello Uwe, This sounds very interesting and it sure would make things very handy. Would you have any idea as to the cost of a single Photo Etched sheet, just curious. I do have to be a bit careful as I am retired and living on a pension, ENJOY.
