S.O.S Dioramas You would like to build

Interesting image of righting a ship via winches.
I wonder what was whited-out on the top photograph?

That would be the work of the war time military sensors. Probably a RADAR array or an antenna that was classified technology at the time the image was released.
It is common in WW2 pictures, many times aircraft squadron markings and ship identification numbers are removed too.

I wonder what sort of boat this will become. It sure is huge with a very flat keel. Perhaps a tanker of sorts.

Probably just a merchant ship. They were all flat-bottomed. Here is the body plan of a ship that I sailed in for 11 years. Stern to midships on the left. Bow to midships on the right - Bob Body Plan RMS Scanned from printed page.jpg

Yes, that would be a good one, @RichardG. I also like this one too...

There is a rich history of exploration and disasters in both polar areas.
I actually prefer your illustration. It must have been gut wrenching for the crew, and your's look more desolate and in the process of being abandoned.

Yes, terrible.
There is a kit, HMS Terror (is identical to HMS Erebus). Their story can only be told by forensics, i.e., one's own imagination as to what to make of the diorama.
