Hello everyone,

After several years focused on work, sailing, and practicing karate, I’ve recently retired and am excited to dive back into models building. I’m enjoying having the time to work with both plastic and wood ship models, drawing on my past experience.

So far, I’ve been starting with wood beginner-friendly kits like the Rainbow (Amati), San Juan (Occre), Bounty Launch Boat (Occre), Santísima Trinidad Captain’s Boat (Artesanía Latina), and the Caravel La Niña (Artesanía Latina). Currently, I’m progressing with the Caravel La Pinta (Artesanía Latina).

Looking forward to connecting with fellow modelers and sharing this journey!

Thanks a lot!

As this hobby is becoming a bit more serious now, I’m dealing with a challenge I’m guessing many members have faced at some point—negotiating with the lovely wife to get a proper workspace. You know, somewhere I don’t have to clear everything away every time family or friends drop by, especially when my modeling stuff ends up in the dining room!

In my case, I’ve been granted the garage, so now I’m designing a foldable worktable. Of course, I’m checking out past reviews and discussions to figure out what will make the most sense.

Welcome Carlos.
I too am a newbie to SOS, but not to modeling nor building working tables and benches.
As a possible affordable thought starter. I built a deployable work surface from a light weight hollow core door I cut down to size for year-round quick, easy and fast deployment. Vertical wood pole adds enormous column loading to table. Easing strain on chain supports secured to sides w/ small eye bolts bent to an "L" shape.
Yes. I'm a shameless trash picker. I even employed it's hinges.
Here's a few pics.

Nice! Looks like we’re both in the “deployable table club” — nothing like saving space with a smart, fold-away setup. Using wood you already had at home makes it even better. And yeah, that outdoor spot really adds a great vibe. A picture of my final solution.
