San Bartolomé - Pavel Nikitin [COMPLETED BUILD]

Thanks Freddie. I did use all four pieces I had available, as I seem to remember that testing before gluing was the best way to get it to the rounded shape I wanted. In any case, you have to shape it with sandpaper afterwards, so in my opinion it's always better to have some wood left over. I hope you enjoy the project as much as I did. I hope the translator did a good job.

Gracias Freddie.
Thanks for the quick reply. I will go ahead with the 4 pieces. The translator worked great!

I am back a second time to again thank you for the excellent pictures. Do you have the time to tell me in detail exactly which of Pavels paints you used and in what sequence and how you applied them? You have perfectly achieved the same result that Pavel did. I am trying and failing! I'm just not getting it . . .

Many thanks and with great respect
John

Hi John, I just followed Pavel Nikitin's instructions. If you Google "Pavel Nikitin Masterclass," you'll find a video showing how he does it.

But I made a few mistakes at first. First, we apply the black or patina, then we sand, but we sand very well, leaving the wood almost natural and the black only injecting the wood grain and into the joints and crevices. Afterwards, in my case, I only used oak stain.

Thank you for that info. I had seen the video but since I was having trouble with coloring, which he didn't specifically mention, I was hoping to get that info from you. So now I have it - many thanks.

I am thinking about using colors instead - this is attractive to me !
