I had an issue with trying to sand grates level. The always seemed to be that little bit of presure to much on one sode and even turning the grating foun I was still getting a curvature in the piece.

Problem solved, make a jig. Well it was solved after I made the jig

I have set this jig at 2mm and probably should not have glued sand paper right across the sanding bloke. The grating material is 3mm thick. Still turn the grating from time to time in the jig. I can now sand flat and level. Only sand in a forward motion as there is no back stop.

This could be modified for other small flat parts

Materials used.
Some scrape timber. To make sanding block and handle and base. To attach to the end of the base for cushioning.
Aiminium to make a guide
4 metal threads and nuts and washers to hold and adjust aluminium guides

Cheers
Geoff
