I'm new to model boat building, I recently purchased a small Schooner HALCON sailing ship 1/100 scale and to my surprise there's very little instructions, they barely show u how to assemble the hull and deck and there's no instructions at all for assembling the sail's or the masts.
I did find online some videos of the build but it's in a foreign language and doesn't really help, I'm wondering if anyone knows any sites or videos I can use to guide me, especially with bending the 3mm thick pieces that the canon's stick out of. If someone has knowledge of bending thin plywood like this I'd much appreciate any help, I can't start planking until I get these on, the part I'm mostly worried about is where the port holes for the canon's to stick out I'm worried about breaking or splitting the wood as it is very thin. Again any assistance would be gladly appreciated, thank you Peter Michael

Thanks, I've built different models but mostly plastic models when I was younger. I'm only getting the hang of using this Ship's of Scale forum and I've found more helpful info on this than anywhere else, I've never built any model ships especially wooden ones and when I bought the HALCON 1840 1/100 scale model it said for 14+ so I thought it might have been slightly easier but with lack of instructions it nearly makes it impossible but I'll persevere and try my best to build my model, I'll send some pics as I go hopefully it will work out but it will be good to learn how to work with wood like this

also from my side a warm welcome here on board of our forum.
I realized, that you found already the existing building log of the Halcon.....maybe it would be good to start your own building log, so you can show your progress and work, and we are able to give hints and tipps, or answer your questions if necessary and requested

I've just glued the deck last night but I think the prow to which I mount the bowsprit on the model I got is raised up higher than it's supposed to be, I was just wondering does anyone know if it is supposed to be like that or is it because it's a cheap Chinese model I got. It means when I fit the rail I might have to file where they meet at the prow to fit the bowsprit correctly.
This is my first model boat ever to make and the instructions I got are useless, any hints or tips about this would be gladly appreciated, thanksIMG_20210511_215414_3.jpg

Welcome aboard
Thank you, I don't think I'd have gotten this far without the help of a lot of people on this forum. Slowly but surely I'll keep posting threads if my project, this is my first ever boat to build and because the instructions were so bad it really is with my own research and help from Ships of Scale, it's an excellent site and brilliant to get to know likeminded people from around the world
