Scratch build of American schooner

I've just started this build, my first full scratch build using Amati plans. So far I've cut out the bulkheads & deck & assembled the skeleton. It'll be a fill in job between other builds.

Will you use completely the Amati information, or do you adjust them with other resources of information?

Hi, Uwe, I'll probably just use Amati's info. I haven't been able to match the ship with a prototype. I'm thinking of building her as an unarmed vessel.

Just filled between bulkheads fore & aft with medium-hard balsa blocks. The two small blocks on the false keel are the mounting for dowel nuts (M4) for threaded rods to fix to the display base.

Ho usato balsa media dura, questo permette alle tavole di seguire la forma dello scafo con più superficie su cui incollare. Non ho istruzioni, solo piani. Pianificherò lo scafo con noce, mogano, e lime, o qualsiasi abbia nel mio stock. Il riempimento con balsa o altro legno e un metodo comunemente usato da molti.

Ottimo metodo e ottimo italiano.
Penso che devi stare attento solo a levigare bene la balza, evitando bozzi o fossi. Ma vedo che stai facendo un lavoro, molto preciso.
Effettivamente, io non ho proprio preso in considerazione questo metodo perchè, essendo un modello navigante, devo avere l'interno dello scafo libero.

I think you just have to be careful to smooth the ruffle well, avoiding bumps or ditches.
But I see that you are doing a very precise job.

I didn't really take this method into consideration because, being a sailing model, I have to have the inside of the hull free.
