Sergal Cutty Sark scale 1:78 Robertd [COMPLETED BUILD]

A gorgeous day ( 86 F) , so not much work , the yards next , I am still searching the net how to secure the yards here and there , to make it more authentic , I wish I was in Greenwich now to do some research , so as from now on slowly to get things correct .
Me checking the rigging !

A couple of weeks later , rigging , shrouds , ratlines , I have ordered extra chains to for securing the yards , just do a couple of hours , otherwise I go ‘bonkers’ doing all the lines and lots of light as well , but I am happy with the result sofar , it is a great model , and I have ordered a custom made display case , it is nowhere near finished , initially I had the topmasts painted black , being not happy with the result , back to a stain .

Looking good Robert!

Yoiu can be well pleased with your effort Robert! I can only imagine that the rigging on her is a daunting task, but you are taking it in your stride!

I didn’t like the stanchions supplied in the kit ( not enough anyway) so use Artesania instead , so much neater , also to secure the yards I don’t want to use rope as required , but opt for chain and blocks as per the original , the outriggers secured with chain as well instead of rope ,so here and there personal modifications , I have to admit it is sometimes daunting with all the lines and ‘paws’ and on occasion a snap!! Oh well!!

Shrouds finished today , almost two weeks since my last post , next will be ratlines and the yards , so it is all taking shape , I only spend a couple of hours and lots of light is mandatory

Happy birthday in sunny Australia Dear Robert! May you and your admiral enjoy many years of good health to continue the hobby we all love so much.

nearly 2 weeks further , rigging and more rigging ! Running out of rope , so now waiting for supply , I ordered that in the UK , similar what I have rigged so far .5mm hemp , in the meantime I decided to add a companion ladder ( gangway) still had some scratch stuff over from a previous build , designed and made that suits the Cutty Sark , I think it looks okay and just add a little personal touch , hair raising and fiddly working in between the shrouds , a snap so now and then , or cut accidentally , oh well , keep going .

Looking great Robert! It sometimes amazes me the amount of rope used on ships!
