Hey all. Is sergal a good company for ship models.
Can anyone give a critique?

Sergal, PanArt and Mantua are all the same company and follow the same building style, instructions and parts. The La Soleil Royal and Sovereign of the Seas are show in the wooden kit sections. I show in my logs the parts of the kit as received.

Dave,

I wish that I could be of some help here. I just bought from Cornwall the San Felipe which is Panart. I think that Gary is correct that Panart, Mantua and Sergal are all the same in function / form / company, etc. I know I am not answering your question b/c simply I just don't know and have not build enough wooden ships from all the major companies to determine that.

This might be of some help; and you can do what I did, and go to this link at Cornwal Model Boats (CMB) and look at this list of instruction and build manuals here: http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/mantua_manuals.html I downloaded the manual for the Panart San Felipe and looks good within reason of what I would expect. I think most manuals are going towards picture and less wordage. This is what OcCre did and when it came to the Rigging, they had one sentence "please refer to the rigging Plates for rigging your ship"

May I ask what ship are you interested in ?

I assume that you have already visited the site: https://www.mantuamodel.co.uk/

I decided to just go with Mantua this time around.

I have Mantua's cataloge and order parts from it. It contains all the ship from Mantua, Sergal and PanArt. It say that the other names are trade marks of Mantua.

Gary you mention a Mantua catalog for parts. I would be interested to get one or know your source. I need to find hammock cranes and belaying pins that were missing from a Mantua Victory kit 738 I have. Any help would be appreciated :text-thankyouyellow:
