Has this idea been used and/or is it acceptable? Use shrink tubing to bring the line together. Then heat and add white glue. I used 1/16" tubing that is available from Mouser Electronics.
The line can easily be adjusted for tension before heating. I use a needle threader to pull the ends through the tubing. I've built several models and I've always had problems getting the dead eye in the right place. Bob WaltersIMG_2869.jpgace

That’s an intriguing idea. At scale it would barely be noticeable but for the shine shrink tube acquires when heated.

My method for seizing shrouds is to use very fine thread to go around the shroud and make an overhand knot. Cross the ends around the backside, then come back around the front with another overhand knot. Keep repeating until you have the desired number of wraps and finish with a double overhand knot and a small dab of glue to secure it. It’s not a perfect representation of a real seizing, but with dark thread, it’s nearly impossible to tell.

Do you wax the lines?
No, I don't. I tried bee's wax a couple of times and I didn't like it. Also the wax wouldn't allow the shrink tubing to crush. Also the glue I use is a thinned down (about the consistency of mapel syrup) white glue (Harbor Freight) and it wouldn't adhere to the line. That glue dries clear.
