Hi All,

Gary M, Kent, Bill Bunderson and I have arranged to meet up on Saturday, October 12th at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum in Vallejo, CA, just a short distance from the old Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Anyone is welcome to join us. This is kind of in the spirit of the SoS Conference idea posted in another topic.

We'll be meeting at noon on that day. You can find out more about the Vallejo Museum here: http://www.vallejomuseum.com/

:text-woo:

It's just a little place and we've arranged with the museum director to meet up there.

If you're in the area that day and interested in joining us, PM me and send me your email address so I can send you details and alert you to any changes in plan.

<t>Hi Folks,

This meet-up is just over two weeks away and still on track. If anyone else is in the area and wants to come, please PM me. Should be a nice little gathering and a chance to meet some other modelers in the area. I'm really looking forward to it and get a chance to meet with a couple people I've only talked to, but never actually met.

Come, have coffee, talk ship model stuff, share your experiences and take a look around the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum.
<t>Just reporting in Anja, All,

We had our meet up yesterday, primarily Ships of Scale members, but one from MSW (maybe he'll come over here some time soon to chat). It was a great time. Jim Kern, the museum director at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum where we met let us in to the room where we had our meeting – very convenient as it was right off a small parking lot, so a very short walk with ship models.

Once we were all present, he took us to the entry way of the museum which has a night sky painted to depict the position of the stars at the time of the opening of the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in 1854, at that time, commanded by then Commander David Farragut. There, he gave us directions as to what we'd find where and then we went back to our meeting.

It was great for everyone to finally be able to put faces to names and to just spend a couple hours talking shop (or talking ship) non-stop. We had some coffee and snacks to keep us going and then when it was all done, we took a walk through the naval history part of the museum.

It was fun enough for everyone to agree to meet up again after the holidays. We haven't picked a location, but Jim Kern invited us back to meet there again if we want.

Anyway, if anyone will be in the area in early January, let me know so you can join us!
<t>Hey Clare just wanted to say Thank You very much for getting us all together. I had a great time and once again whenever I talk to you guys I always seem to learn something. I hope we can do it again.</t>

<t>Hi Kent,

You're very welcome. I enjoyed meeting you and Andy and seeing Bill and Gary again. I'm looking forward to meeting again. January seems so far away, but trying to do something any earlier gets into holiday preparations and all that.

I'm wondering if we should go ahead and set a date and location?

Of course, in the meantime, there's nothing keeping us from meeting up since we're relatively close by. I'd love to see the projects you're working on.
