Hi all

Can somebody point me in the right direction, I am going to start a 1/64 scale HMS Surprise shortly and I would like to put some LED’s in the build, can anybody tell me where I can get some LED’s , power supply (or batteries) switches etc in the UK

Many thanks

Daaveyboy

Hi Daaveyboy,
I’ve also been exploring whether I want to add LED lighting to my ship. You can find all the parts on AliExpress, including a choice of light color, voltage, options for flickering or steady lights, etc.

Dave,
although I hooked them up to the same battery at the same time, they flickered independently and not synchronized.

Try: Bright Components 10 Cony Walk Grange Park Northampton
5x 3mm Flickering / Candle Yellow Ultra Bright Pre-Wired LED : 9V ~ 12V (5 Pieces)

Have a look at Lego lights from 'Light My Bricks'. I have used them to good effect on my model of the Endurance.
5v USB with lots of options including dimmers, warm white single LED or strips and very fine wires and connectors.

20260531_103403.jpgI use copper strips on both port and starboard sides of the keel and run the main cable through that Las Mercedes so used flickering 3mm LED's you don't need many

I have built the Endurance which includes lighting throughout, all from Aliexpress, check my build & if you have any questions - dont hesitate

A very impressive build, the lights look really good giving the ship a bit more depth.

How have you powered the LED lights changeable Batteries or a mains plug in adaptor.

Regards.

I have powered the lights by 2 no AA batteries. you should also note that I have installed a sensor that turns the lights on as you approach and turns them off 30 seconds after you leave. this was all relatively simple (and cheap). I considered a recharge system and even went as far as getting the parts, but in the end I did not think it was worth it.
