Shipyard Victory 1/96 Unboxing!

Tomorrow I hope to be able to show pictures of what the kit contains.
A short description:
60 A3 pages, of which 33 pages are with parts, a large part of which will be pasted onto various thick cardboard, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 2.0, 2.5 are the thicknesses I have seen so far.
Some pages also contain pictures of the prototype and a model that looks fantastic, but to build something like that you have to supplement the kit with masts, sails, ropes and many sculptures cut from some suitable material.
If you think Billing Boat's descriptions are not sufficient, then this kit is definitely not something to consider at all.

Sadly, it sounds like another sisyphean endeavor for a Victory model in the making. I hope I am wrong and it works out OK for you.

I guarantee I will finish mine if I live long enough. One should of course understand that to make a decent Victory model takes years or may be decades to finish. As for myself I do not set a finish deadlines for it. Just doing this for pleasure. Having fun out of it.

I watched most of the video and must say, the music has me thoroughly depressed.

Is this model of Victory supposed to be after her rebuild in 1803 or as launched in 1765? IF this matters to you maybe consider comparing the drawings against the video and contemporary based sources. An example is that the cannon in the drawings look like no pattern ever used by the British and the ones in the video look like Armstrong Fredericks which would be from 1760 to 1790.

Most importantly, enjoy your time with her, hopefully it will be a be a combination of only a little frustration but a lot of gratification.

Yikes! That looks like the instructions from the old Pocher model cars - which explains why so many never got built. (Yes, I have one in my stash.)

My thoughts exactly! We be in the 'same boat'! I'm being constantly interrupted in my build by having to scratch build new parts from much better wood than what's in the Caldercraft kit. IMHO & for the price of the kit, the wood, especially the walnut ply, could be a better grade. The grain [in my kit] is so deep, that to get a decent finish one has to sand that much away to almost halve the thickness.
