SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS
I really appreciated the Sovereign of the Seas model by Willi Meischl & Co.
I add that in the historical reality there are several versions of the ship (about 3)
The first "Sovereign of the Seas" of 1637 as ordered by Charles I
The 2nd "Sovereign" of 1640-45 rebuilt by Cromwell without royal decorations
The 3rd "Sovereign Royal" of 1660 rebuilt by King Charles II
So the construction plans of the model (Amati, Sergal, Corel etc..) is the 3rd version of 1660. To build the original model of the refer to Payne's print, or to Van de Velde's paintings, or in practice to the reference books of H. Busmann (for the decorations) and J. Sephton (for the measures). There are no original pre-printed gilt decorations. In the 3 versions there are many differences one among all the entire transom of 1637 and 1660.
With this each model, if well done is still a beautiful exercise of skill.
Best regards
