Beautiful work Doris, as usual, though I prefer your paper builds.
The 'fins' you mention are called 'lee boards' in English, 'zwaarden' (litt. -swords-) in Dutch. (zwaard -singular, zwaarden -plural).

I don't know if you have seen my book on the Utrecht, but the coloring of the upper works and the carvings were subject of an extensive study by the sculptor, Cees van Soestbergen. Regrettably while in use the various captains of the vessel chalked most of over with ready paint from the construction store. You can't win the all...

It is a pleasure to see your work again on SOS. I still remember drooling at your gorgeous Card models on MSW (now lost completely) and the beautiful pictures of your personal collection of ships. I see that you have now moved to the dark side of plastic kits....
