This topic appeared some time ago either as a post here on the Ships of Scale web-site or the Model Ship-world website. The poster requested details on how cannon were secured fore and aft to the ship's side in preparation for bad weather. I think the query was never really answered. A few years on, I am now in the position of requiring the same information to enable me to accurately finish an AVS (MEDIATOR: Jeff Staudt) model I am working on.
The only example of this stowing technique I have is a very small indistinct drawing of a gun lashed in this position. This is far too small to enable me to interpret details of the securing process. I assume the gun's operating tackle was used hooked into the gun position ring bolts in bulwarks/planking. I would be very grateful if any members can provide any information on how the lashing/ stowage was executed.
